  • In Kuwait

    Hello Everyone,

My unit made it safely to Kuwait a week or so ago. We've been extremely busy conducting as much training as we can before we make out push northward. I at least forewarned you of my track record with communicating. I have not made my goal of weekly, but I will continue to try (monthly was where I should have started ) I'm doing just fine, and Kuwait has plenty of comforts to keep my mind off the heat and lame looking desert. To give you an idea I've been enjoying the following: air conditioning, good cafeteria food, plenty of pay phones, pay internet sites, Starbucks (on occasion). All of these commodities are available on the little downtime I have, but they make the difference.

My unit will soon fly into Iraq. I've heard that where I'm going will have even more perks than here in Kuwait. If I do indeed have internet in my room (like I've heard) then it will motivate me to post more often. I've continued my Bible studying through my MP3 player, and it has really been the comfort I most needed. I strongly recommend audio sermons to anyone that has trouble making it to church for whatever reason.

    Yours truly,

    Stefan

  • Two weeks before deployment

I've never had a Weblog before, and if any of you facebook, you can see how bad I am about posting stuff by checking out my profile.

Okay, here I go. First and foremost I want to dedicate this Weblog to my Aunt Beverly who is fighting breast cancer. She started a Weblog, and it has encouraged me to do the same for my deployment. Aunt Beverly is one of the few exceptions of her generation that has mastered and kept up with the technology progression i.e. she has a Weblog and I didn't until I saw how well she is able to tell her story on hers.

I have two weeks before we are suppose to load the buses at Fort Leonard Wood to go to the Airport to fly to Kuwait. Then I'll spend a few weeks in Kuwait before we fly into Iraq. My battalion will be conducting deployment classes the next two weeks in preparation. I'll be packing up my apartment in the evenings and gathering important things for Savita to hold on to while I'm gone (like my heart)...

I'm doing alright though. I've really gotten into studying the word of God from this website: www.gbible.org the amazing things I've learned about God from this website have allowed me to have the confidence in my deployment that I could have never mustarded up on my own. God is real and he is love!

My plan is to post a message at least once a week on Sundays, if I have the time.
